Making Feedback Visible

Duration TBD

As we know, there are numerous resources available on Agile and how to implement change programs, yet successful Agile adoption remains daunting. Many organizations face challenges that are unique to them, and difficult to overcome. This talk is focused on pragmatic solutions, targeted to solving such specific problems. We'll present 3 case studies to illustrate what constitutes effective feedback, how to create visual feedback representations that are inexpensive, easy to construct, update, understand and share with the team. We will show what tools to use and how to apply the feedback.

Process/Mechanics

The case studies we describe three different project scenarios, each illustrating an example of visual feedback:

  1. Project Initiation - Great Wall of Stories
  2. Project Inflight - Developer & QA Dashboard
  3. Project at Risk - Newton's Timeline

The speakers would describe a case study by explaining a problem and then through interactive session lead to a solution. The solution that worked will be discussed in detail and demonstrated. The floor will mostly be open to discuss other case studies/challenges faced by projects and interactive discussion about 1/2 case studies would be encouraged towards the later part of the talk.

Learning outcomes

By the end the listener would learn the following:

  1. How to express visual feedback effectively
  2. How to reflect on the feedback to effect change in team behavior
  3. How to empower the team to perpetuate use of the feedback and self-organize around it.
